A natural wine made from 100% Cabernet Franc, this variety is the undisputed star of the Villány wine region. Though Cabernet Franc is grown all over the world it is mostly used as a blending partner, bottled as a single variety it reaches its pinnacle in Villány. „Cabernet Franc has found its natural home in Villány”, wrote the world famous wine expert, Michael Broadbent MW in 2000 in his column in Decanter Magazine.
Grown biodynamically in a very small plot in the Hidegkút vineyard (meaning ’Cold Well’) surronded by walnut trees, almonds and figs which clearly indicate the mediterranean influence in Villány. The soil is loess and clay over a limestone bedrock. The grapes were hand picked and the must fermented spontaneously with native, wild yeast. The malolactic fermentation also took place spontaneously, without any additives. The wine was matured in used Hungarian and French small oak barrels for 30 months in a small traditional underground cellar. The wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered with the addition of a minimal amount of sulfur. Tobacco-like scent of black berries and a little red pepper with delicate bacon and floral nuances, clear minerality, tangy-juicy and slightly smoky finish with cocoa notes. A biodynamic wine certified by Demeter.
