Cabernet Franc is the flagship variety of the Villány wine region. This variety enables Villány to reach the highest standards and winemakers to craft world class wines. Günzer Cabernet Franc is made from fully ripe grapes rich in tannins. This variety never becomes as robust or harsh as Cabernet Sauvignon does sometimes. This is an elegant and inviting variety which requires an extended ageing period to show its full potential. However, there are huge differences from one winemaker to the other in terms of average yields, bunches per vine and vineyard conditions. The Günzer Family Wine Estate strives to create a Cabernet Franc that retains its fruitiness, isn’t ‘over-oaked’, and retains its ‘drinkability’ by using tanks as well as French barrels over the ageing period. Günzer Cabernet Franc is a classic quality red wine which represents excellent value for money. Its quality definitely surpasses its ’classic’ denomination.
