The theme for 2018 vintage was found on a vacation in Norway, where a land slide just had occurred. It got obvious that a traffic sign could be useful in the newly selected Rare Peak grade label, in this case a sign at the foot of the ‘Rare peak’, warning for falling rocks, including one and another deer.
After a wet week in the beginning of September, the weather turned into a farmer’s dream, and the Genesis vineyard could be ‘Ultra Late’ harvested the 13th of October. Only the 1st pressing fraction is used in the wine, and together with the fact that the grapes came from only the highest portion of the Genesis vineyard, this results in a ‘Rare Peak’ quality grade.
The wine has performed terrific from start. The smell is vibrant and dynamic, the taste has it all, laser focus, thick dried fruit character, and a long and pure after-taste. It is a stylish, say more classic Riesling, making it a bit extra long-lived. Ideally, this wine should stay in bottle for another 5 yarrs before consumption, and it will rise in attractiveness for at least 10 years thereafter. This wine was awarded as the second-best wine by the prestigious Hungarian wine magazine VinCE, in their volcano contest.
